I had two problems which I managed to figure out fairly rapidly without having bothered to read any instructions. Training mode is available where you can slow the song down and get the rythm right before speeding it back up to real time. The components appear to be of higher quality than the equivalent Guitar Hero components. Great overall game. But if we wanted to play the microphone and the guitar we would have to start a new band rather than just playing without the drums. Completing one difficulty mode prepares you adquately for the next.
The selection of songs available online is pretty good - but it sucks that you have to buy them.
1) It took me a while to figure out you used the standard controller to control the Microphone.2) When the guitar enters sleep mode you have to hit the resent button on the USB hub connected to the PS3.
We started out playing the drums and guitar - making the drums the leader.
Everything worked well - and the limited construction went very smoothly.
That is useful if you are having difficulty - its a pain that when you finish practicing in this mode that you are sent back to the original opening menu instead of going back to the song you were initially working on.Only real complaint that I have with the game so far is when you are playing in muliplayer mode and you assign someone to be the band leader, you have to play that intrument type in every song the band plays.
(no your batteries are not dead after 1.5 hours of gameplay)The selection of songs is quite good, mixing a number of older songs with newer.
There is a fairly even balance between the headbanging mosh and more melody intensive song types.
Then we figured out the microphone.
Only shortfall I have found so far with game having had it for about a month so far.Fun game - recommend it.
its a great time for all ages. my only problem is the microphone won't work or i can't figure out how to make it work.
I love the game and had played it several times with friends and finally caved and bought the system for myself. Now my friends come over and we have "weekly band sessions". The only problem is we don't recognize most of the songs. However I did buy Rock Band 2 afterwards and it has more songs we recognize.
I think that it's virtually impossible to match your voice to most of the male songs when your a female anyways. I am a PS3 RockBand2 drummer because to tell you the truth I picked them up after the guitar and did way better than with the latter. Overall, I love the game. FYI, I've never played GH so I can't compare them. My husband plays it and from what I can tell he hasn't had any problems with the one that came with the bundle or the extra one that he bought. The mic is also in good condition. the quality of the instruments is pathetic. Later I noticed that it wasn't all my fault faulty.
You would think that for a game that costs this much, they would have put more time and effort and found better materials. Now let me get to the bad part. THREE DAYS after my husband bought me the game, my drums stop working.COMPLETELY. they are more expensive than Itunes.
I love this game. I had to hit the pad dead in the center not the side or it wouldn't register the note. Thankfully, after messing with it a little I was able to re-align something and they are good now.I have nothing to complain about the guitars, because like I said before, I hardly ever play them. Nobody likes singing past the MEDIUM/HARD levels because it will give you a sore throat from straining your natural voice to sound like the game. We replace the batteries, all of them, shook it, banged it, smacked it, and nothing happened. The song's are a little overpriced. I love the graphics, the avators, the songs, the difficulty variations, and the sound quality. but it gets 3 stars for inconvinience at such an early stage in our relationship.
I went outside to take a break, left them on, came back 5-10 minutes later and they wouldn't turn on anymore. We called EA and they sent us a new one (w/free shipping both ways, not much hassle) because of the warranty, but about 5 to 6 uses into the new drums, I started missing to many RED and some yellow notes. P.S. That's ridiculous.
I really had my doubts about this game but the kids were thrilled to receive Rock Band and for hours there was no fighting, no whining just intense concentration, amazing displays of dexterity, total singing inhibition, laughter and all to a beat I could live with.
